Mission Statement

The Dr. Melvin C. Terrell Educational Foundation, Inc. serves as a beacon for student affairs professionals addressing the issues and needs of today’s college students. The MCT Foundation was created to ensure underrepresented students gain access and achieve success in higher education and student affairs.

Scholarship Criteria
  • The entire application must be completed correctly for applicant to be considered.
  • All applicants must be a currently matriculating graduate student in a master’s or doctoral program in Student Affairs or a Higher Education Administration related program.
  • Minimal 3.5 GPA
  • Award preference will be given toward those applicants who are at the dissertation proposal/data collection phase of their studies.
  • This is a one-time award of $1,500.00 that will be awarded directly to two student to further the awardees academic pursuits.

    Write an essay (minimum 500 words) on how you are committed to transforming lives through diversity, and/or research, and/or scholarship. The essay MUST address your commitment to diversity with research and/or scholarship being optional.
  • Part V: Recommendations

    Submit a total of TWO (2) recommendation letters. One (1) letter of recommendation from a faculty member in your academic area (professor, dissertation/thesis chair or committee member, department chair etc.) and one (1) letter from a full time professional (i.e., professional supervisor, mentor, community leader, higher education administrator, university official etc.). The letters should include knowledge of the applicant, personal attributes and involvement related to diversity, research, and/or scholarship. Letters should be submitted with application materials. Recommendation letters cannot be submitted by immediate family members, relatives, partner, or spouse. Letters should be submitted with application materials.
